Wes Montgomery solo on "How Insensitive"
This is a melodically simple solo but masterfully crafted, and it is a great study in how to lay back on the beat and exercise expression and feel. The parallel octaves are possible on guitar and piano - mandatory actually - but will have to be played as single lines for other instruments; that makes it even easier as a solo but in turn is a great study on how to invent a new melody expressively. The recording is from the COMPACT JAZZ series on VERVE.
