I remember this assignment in music class, at a time before my first plunks on a guitar, which entailed writing a piece of music through notation. When I finished my piece I proudly asked my sister to sight read it on flute; the results were strangely interesting and I was hooked from that moment on.
Aside from producing being a job, it's just great fun to see and hear a song forming - sometimes out of thin air and at other times with the help of great musicians and singers or simply on my digital audio workstation.
